This is the cover for volume 2 of my Gun Gals | Blade Babes collection. It wasn't the original idea that I was hoping to shoot for the cover, but life totally got in the way. First model canceled then we couldn't get a reschedule worked out; then a last minute shoot with a new model was set up only to be foiled by illness. With a few days left in my schedule before I had to send the book off to the printer, I came up with this concept. Luckily i was able to find an old fine arts photo that worked out pretty well. It kind of goes against the series' conceit but it gets the basic message across (i hope). I changed the bar from black to white so i can sign with a regular sharpie. The metallic ones didn't sit well on the paper stock. I added the Space-Gun Studios logo on the back to continue our branding.
This particular volume was pretty rushed. I ended up shooting a lot in a short amount of time to get all the ref i needed. I wanted to use all new models so it was a real scramble to get it all done. I did end up using some old illustrations as textures though. So for about two weeks I would wake up, turn on the computer, brush my teeth as it boots, then get to work. One of those few pleasures you have when unemployed. Won't have that luxury for much longer.
